We were kickstands up around 915 from Appleton, WI yesterday. Said our goodbyes to Brenda's sister Rhonda and their daughter Logan.

BRENDA & JUD
The ride was all back roads up to Ashland, WI on Lake Superior. One road was like a small roller coaster we all rode as kids. Very small ups and downs of like 5-10 feet swells with gentle curves thrown in. Almost somewhat hypnotizing time of a ride. Giant pine trees towered the sides of the roads with no buildings. If a rider didn't enjoy that kind of riding....they need to get rid of their bike for sure!
We passed town such as Zoar, Butternut, Black Creek (7 bars in a quarter mile...if you are an alcoholic you may want to check this place out) and Park Falls (Ruffed Grouse Capital of the World).
I would like to send out a thank you note to the WI Highway Patrolman who gave us a "free pass." When you look down at your speedometer and it is dead on 70 MPH in a 55 as you are passing a vehicle. Then you look up to see a WIHP vehicle head on...you pull back in, slight hand wave and check your six to see when you should pull over and wait...all you see are tail lights go over the ridge not to return! We thank you!
A long lunch stop to watch the last four holes of the British Open and see Tom Watson make history...didn't happen but, it was an excellent break in the day.
Back on the bikes and the last leg to Ashland. What a jewel of a little motel. AMERICAN owned and funny. The girl who checked us in could hold her own! I asked what time breakfast was...she never looked up and said, "you tell me, you are cooking." =-) Only $44 and overlooks Lake Superior. If you ever find yourself in Ashland, WI....The Crest Motel is a steal!

OUR FERRY CREW
Got checked in and then off to Bayfield to catch the ferry over to Madeline Island in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Area. What a hoot we had. Live music and a great time. Finally got back to the motel around 1130 PM. Long day but, worth every minute of it.

AFTER
OK, KU in 45 minutes. It's over toward Duluth, MN and the shore of Lake Superior...our plan is to end in Bemidji, MN tonight. So, I am practicing my "you bettcha's and Aye's," today so I don't sound like a local!

OK, everyone is waiting on me....
Rick (MDD)

Glad you guys are having a great time!
